The .an domain was the Internet country code top-level domain for the former Netherlands Antilles, administered by the University of the Netherlands Antilles. With the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, the domain was phased out and officially discontinued on July 31, 2015. Despite having over 800 domains registered under .an, including popular ones like google.com.an and youtube.com.an, the domain was ultimately removed from the DNS root servers in 2014. The deletion of .an led to the designation of new ccTLDs for Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.
