Anchor Brewing Company, a historic California brewery with roots dating back to the Gold Rush era, has announced that it will no longer be selling its portfolio of beers outside of California, and expects to discontinue its iconic holiday beer, Christmas Ale, which has been a brewing tradition since 1975. The decision is due to San Francisco’s inflationary impact on product costs and the competitive craft brewing market. The company is focusing on its California market which accounts for 70% of its sales. Although challenging, the decision to focus on one market has been driven by years of political and economic realities the company has faced.
