In this groundbreaking study, the authors propose an alternative approach to quantum gravity where the spacetime metric is considered classical while matter fields remain quantum. They demonstrate that the stochastic evolution of the metric leads to a modification of general relativity at low accelerations, introducing an entropic force that deviates from Einstein’s theory. Surprisingly, this entropic force, driven by a stochastic cosmological constant, may explain galactic rotation curves without the need for dark matter. However, caution is advised as further research and numerical simulations are needed to fully understand this effect. This research provides a new perspective on the Brownian motion of spacetime.
