ARPA-H announces awards to develop novel technologies for precise tumor removal

The Biden-Harris Administration has introduced the ARPA-H Precision Surgical Interventions (PSI) program to develop innovative technologies for precise tumor removal, aiming to minimize repeat surgeries and accidental tissue damage. The program plans to invest up to $150 million in groundbreaking tools that will revolutionize surgical techniques, improve cancer detection, and enhance the overall patient experience. Teams selected for awards will focus on cancer localization, healthy structure localization, and making critical anatomy more visible to surgeons. These advancements have the potential to significantly reduce surgical errors, improve health outcomes, and ultimately contribute to the administration’s goal of reducing the cancer death rate by 50 percent in the next 25 years.
