Attenborough’s long-beaked echidna rediscovered in Indonesia

Scientists have made an exciting discovery in Indonesia’s Cyclops Mountains, rediscovering a long-lost species of mammal called Attenborough’s long-beaked echidna. This unique creature, named after David Attenborough, has the spines of a hedgehog, the snout of an anteater, and the feet of a mole. After 60 years since its last recording, the echidna was photographed for the first time by a trail camera on the final day of a four-week expedition. The team faced many challenges during their trip, including an earthquake, malaria, and even a leech attached to an eyeball. The echidna holds cultural significance in the local community and is associated with resolving conflicts and restoring harmony.
