In recent years, chatbots based on large language models like ChatGPT and Grok have become more advanced, blurring the line between human and machine-generated conversations. These bots, while sophisticated, lack human understanding and can be tricked with nonsensical input. In an experiment, simple text generation bots successfully engaged an LLM-based chatbot indefinitely, with one bot repeatedly asking about cheese failing to keep the chatbot’s interest. The experiment highlights the potential for using basic bots to detect more advanced bots and raises concerns about the computational cost and vulnerability of LLM-based systems to denial-of-service attacks. The human-like responses of LLMs are impressive, but their limitations are apparent when faced with absurd conversations.
