By 2028 there must be fast chargers every 60 km on the EU’s key motorways

The European Parliament has approved several measures to improve EV charging as part of the EU’s ‘Fit for 55’ package, aimed at reducing emissions by 55% by 2030. The most notable measure is the requirement for fast chargers to be available at least every 60 km on key motorways by 2028. The chargers must have an output of at least 400 kW by 2026, and 600 kW by 2028. Additionally, charging points for electric buses and trucks must be no more than 120 km apart by 2028. The Parliament also wants to simplify payment methods and provide transparency on prices.
