Can Microsoft Flight Simulator help me learn to fly or make me a better pilot?

I personally believe that learning to fly and being a good pilot are separate questions. Anyone can learn how to fly, but not everyone can be a good pilot. Being a good pilot requires more than just operating a flying machine and following procedures; it requires a certain aptitude, attitude, intelligence, and education. A good pilot is able to navigate safely, avoid traps and pitfalls, take care of the aircraft and passengers, make sound decisions, and maintain situational awareness. However, there are elements to flying that a simulator cannot provide, such as the emotional response and the instinctual skills and responses necessary to be a good pilot. While a simulator can teach the operation and procedures, it cannot teach someone how to truly fly. Flying is an emotional and personal experience that cannot be replicated by a simulator.
