Deleting and destroying finished movies

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has adopted a scorched-earth brand of accounting after its 2022 merger, utilizing drastic measures to reduce debt. One controversial decision was deleting the finished feature film “Batgirl,” claiming it was unreleasable and using it as a tax write-off. Now, they are attempting to do the same with another film, “Coyote vs. Acme,” even though it performed exceptionally well with test audiences. The company’s actions not only erase the films themselves but also disregard the hard work and talent of the people involved. Some of their other post-merger decisions, such as canceling popular shows and offloading content, are counterproductive and harmful to their brand.
