In a significant update to the Dillo project released on 2024-05-04, a lot of changes have taken place since the last release in 2015. The main developer of the layout engine, Sebastian Geerken, passed away in 2016, halting development until 2019 when a resurrection attempt was initiated by Rodrigo Arias Mallo. Surprisingly, the release includes a big redesign adding support for floating HTML elements, OpenSSL, LibreSSL, and mbed TLS for HTTPS, and a CI pipeline for multiple platforms. While controversial information such as the domain dillo.org being lost in 2022 is mentioned, the update also includes numerous fixes and small features to enhance user experience.
