A year and a half ago, the dining hall had a fork shortage that led to using spoons for meals. In response, the author bought 180 forks and stamped them with initials before circulating them at the hall. Eventually, all forks were anonymously deposited into a fresh bucket at the silverware station. Despite no longer living on-campus, the author still sees their forks in use. The generosity ended the fork shortages but led to a knife shortage. Surprisingly, the author found one of their forks at their girlfriend’s apartment, likely taken by previous tenants from the dining hall. The story ends with a reflection on generosity.
