Egypt’s pyramids may have been built on a long-lost branch of the Nile

A geological survey has revealed the remains of an ancient branch of the Nile River near the Giza pyramid complex in Egypt, potentially used by ancient Egyptians to transport materials to build their monuments. The Ahramat Branch, as researchers have named it, passed by more than 30 Old- and Middle-Kingdom pyramids, indicating a crucial waterway for construction. The discovery suggests that the Egyptians utilized boats for transportation rather than carrying heavy stones over land, highlighting their pragmatic approach. The ancient river’s location provides a blueprint for archaeologists to uncover more Egyptian settlements, shedding light on their advanced engineering methods.
