FADU, a start-up that specializes in manufacturing SSDs and storage units, showcased its innovative CXL 2.0 switch concept device at the recent Flash Memory Summit. This device, which is a field programmable gate array (FPGA) switch, is designed to enhance IT infrastructure by providing a significant amount of memory to support advanced workloads like AI. The CXL 2.0 switch, called Apollo, combines both CXL 2.0 and PCIe Gen 5 standards in a single chip, reducing latency and power consumption. This technology allows processors and accelerators to share memory, overcoming the limitations of traditional CPU-RAM coupling. This development comes as more devices are being created to improve data center performance in the era of generative AI.
