Facebook let Netflix see user DMs, quit streaming to keep Netflix happy

Facebook Watch shut down its original shows last year, including popular series like Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk, due to Meta’s cost-cutting measures. An ongoing antitrust lawsuit against Meta alleges that Facebook’s decision to end their streaming business was influenced by their lucrative relationship with Netflix. Shockingly, court documents claim that Facebook gave Netflix access to Facebook users’ private messages starting in 2013 in exchange for valuable data on user engagement patterns. While Meta denies these allegations, the case continues with accusations of anti-competitive practices that harm social media competition and consumers.
