Fly Postgres, Managed by Supabase

We’re excited to announce the launch of Fly Postgres, a managed Postgres offering in partnership with Fly.io. Fly Postgres databases are hosted on Fly.io’s edge computing platform, available in over 37 locations worldwide. With Fly Postgres, you can expect all the features and extensions of a Supabase managed database, including support for Vector/AI workloads, connection pooling, backups, migrations, and more. This deployment within the Fly infrastructure makes it the fastest Postgres database for data-intensive applications. While we are still in the testing phase, you can sign up for the waitlist to participate. This partnership with Fly opens up exciting possibilities for distributing Postgres globally. Please note that Fly’s current Postgres offering is unmanaged, while Fly Postgres is a managed service that takes care of scaling, backups, and upgrades, allowing you to focus on building. The implementation of Fly Postgres is based on Fly machines, lightweight Firecracker VMs that offer control over application lifecycle. We have simplified our multi-cloud transition by leveraging Fly’s unique capabilities, such as VM suspension during inactivity.
