Gainax, known for ‘Evangelion’ anime production, goes bankrupt

Gainax, the renowned anime studio behind “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” has filed for bankruptcy after years of financial struggles and controversy. Despite producing hit titles like “Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water,” the company suffered from poor management and the loss of creative talent. Even their representative director faced serious allegations of sexual abuse in 2019. Attempts to revive the company with help from Khara, the studio now in possession of Evangelion rights, failed due to mounting debts. Gainax expressed regret to fans for its closure after 40 years of operation, leaving behind an uncertain amount of liabilities.
