Every time we pack a bag, we are faced with tech-focused decisions, from choosing the devices we need to packing chargers and cords. While I used to travel with just an iPad, the arrival of Apple silicon has led me to bring both an iPad and a MacBook Air. Many of my colleagues who previously integrated the iPad into their work have also switched back to the Mac. I’m a member of Team Both, using my Mac at my desk and switching to an iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard case when I write elsewhere. However, the iPad’s progress as a productivity tool has been slow, lacking the flexibility of macOS. It has limitations when it comes to tasks such as podcast recording or using external devices like the Stream Deck. The iPad’s functionality is determined by Apple, and users are left waiting for advancements. While I hope to do everything on my iPad one day, for now, I’m content with using a MacBook Air for the convenience and reliability it offers.
