Glider – open-source eInk monitor with an emphasis on low latency

The Glider is an open-source E Ink monitor design focused on low latency, featuring hardware design and an open-source Caster EPDC gateware running on the FPGA. The README included provides extensive information on E Ink technology, including advantages, disadvantages, and operation theory. The project supports electrophoretic display panels with monochrome and color options, with extremely low processing delay. Controller options offer high flexibility, while screen panel types range from integrated to separate controllers. Existing solutions include closed-source chips like IT8951 as well as open-source FPGA-based controllers like the Glider and other projects. Various MCUs and SoCs are also discussed for driving E Ink screens, with unique strengths and limitations outlined.
