Hyperion (Tree)

Hyperion, a coast redwood in California, stands as the world’s tallest known living tree at 116.07 meters. Discovered in 2006, it has since grown and now contains 530 cubic meters of wood. The tree is estimated to be 600-800 years old and is found in a remote area of Redwood National Park. Unfortunately, the habitat surrounding Hyperion has been devastated by visitors, leading to the area being closed off with the potential for heavy penalties for trespassers. Hyperion is part of a series of tall coast redwoods in the park, named after the Greek titan.
