In April, almost $43,000 in cash was seized by police inspectors at the Indianapolis FedEx facility. The intended recipient, Henry Minh Inc., is now suing the state of Indiana with the help of the Institute for Justice, claiming unlawful package seizures. Although police claim the cash shipment was associated with criminal activity, no contraband was found. The practice of civil forfeiture allows law enforcement to confiscate property without charging the owner. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has filed cases for over $2.5 million since 2022, leading to accusations of profiteering. The case will be heard in court on Sept. 16.
