Intel Itanium IA-64 Support Removed with the Linux 6.7 Kernel

The mainline Linux kernel has officially ended support for Intel Itanium processors. Over the years, the Itanium support in the Linux kernel has dwindled, with few users testing new kernels on aging Itanium servers. Additionally, there has been a lack of active contributors to the Itanium code, resulting in minimal maintenance and improvements. The proposal to drop Itanium in Linux 6.7 was recently approved, leading to the removal of the 65k lines of code dedicated to supporting Itanium. Itanium processors, which were once hoped to replace x86/x86_64, will now be phased out. Farewell, Itanium!
