KDE Plasma 6.0 Is Enabling Wayland by Default

It’s been a thrilling week for KDE with the release of Plasma 6.0 Alpha and the announcement that Plasma 6.0 will ship with Wayland session as the default option. X11 support will still be available, but right off the bat, the system will attempt to use Wayland. This is a significant achievement for the developers who have been addressing the remaining bugs. Other noteworthy updates include an overhaul of the Breeze app style, preliminary support for HDR games on HDR displays, improved printer integration, a redesigned Plasma panel settings area, faster file compression with Ark, and faster startup time for Plasma. Various multi-screen issues have also been resolved. For more information, check out Nate’s blog.
