Rakuten Kobo is breaking new ground with its latest color e-readers, the Kobo Libra Colour and Kobo Clara Colour, featuring E Ink’s Kaledio color screen technology that transitions from grayscale to color. The Libra 2 stands out with its IPX8 waterproof design, physical page-turning buttons, and no lockscreen ads, making it a strong competitor to Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite. The Clara Colour boasts improved performance and more storage than its predecessor, addressing previous sluggishness issues. However, the higher price of the Libra Colour, especially with the additional cost of the Kobo Stylus 2, may raise eyebrows. Preorders are open now for an April 30th release.
