Las Vegas Sphere reports $98.4M loss; CFO quits

Sphere Entertainment Co. announced an operating loss of $98.4 million for the fiscal quarter ending Sept. 30, along with the resignation of its chief financial officer, Gautam Ranji. The company denies any connection between Ranji’s departure and disagreements with management or accounting practices. However, The New York Post reported that Ranji quit after a confrontation with CEO James Dolan. Greg Brunner will serve as interim CFO. Despite these setbacks, Sphere is optimistic about its $2.3 billion venue on the Las Vegas Strip, which recently opened with U2’s residency. The company’s attention on the exosphere has attracted global brand campaigns. The Sphere will host the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix next week.
