LCD technology has reached its pinnacle and all new research and development into displays is focused on self-emissive displays such as OLED and MicroLED, as well as on backlight technology like Mini-LED. While demand for lower-cost LED-LCD TV and monitors will continue for a while, future improvements will likely focus on OLED development. Bob Raikes from Display Daily suggests that the market will switch to OLED and other emissive displays, especially for high-end and mainstream displays. Manufacturers are currently working on the production of QD-OLED and PHOLED panels which are expected to become available in the coming months.
