Lenovo PC boss: 4 in 5 of our devices will be repairable by 2025

Lenovo has announced that it aims for the majority of its devices to be repairable by 2025 as part of its commitment to a net zero emission policy by 2050. Luca Rossi, senior vice resident at Lenovo, made the announcement at the Canalys EMEA Forum 2023. The company plans to design its hardware with serviceability in mind, allowing customers to repair components such as batteries and SSDs on site. Lenovo’s reputation for repairability is generally better than Apple’s, with several of its devices receiving high fixability scores. The move towards greater repairability is in response to European right-to-repair laws that demand greater transparency and longevity of tech devices. While some may question whether this move will hurt Lenovo financially, Rossi believes that doing what is right for the environment will ultimately benefit the company.
