Microsoft buys Activision – what happens to Infocom’s text adventures now?

In a surprising turn of events following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, the tech giant now owns the rights to the classic Infocom games. While this may seem inconsequential from a corporate standpoint, for longtime fans like myself, it’s a significant development. Infocom, known for its text-based adventure games, has been in a state of legal ambiguity for years, with fans resorting to unofficial means to access and preserve the games. I believe it’s time for Microsoft to take action and either release the Infocom intellectual property under a Creative Commons license or donate the copyrights to a worthy nonprofit organization. This would ensure the preservation and accessibility of Infocom’s rich legacy for future generations.
