Milk Kanban

Kanban is often associated with whiteboards, sticky notes, and strict workflow columns, but its true essence lies in visual signals. The original meaning of Kanban was a visual signal representing a need or capacity. At Lunar, our office manager, Kasia, created a simple yet effective Kanban system for restocking kitchen supplies. By using an index card taped to the last milk carton, Kasia communicated when more milk needed to be ordered in a clear and self-explanatory manner. This example highlights the importance of simplicity in Kanban systems and serves as a reminder to focus on principles rather than practices.
