Model Context Protocol

Today, we’re introducing the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard for connecting AI assistants to data sources like content repositories. The aim is to help models produce more relevant responses by providing a universal, open standard for connectivity. Instead of custom integrations for each data source, developers can now build against a standard protocol, simplifying and making AI systems more reliable. Early adopters like Block and Apollo have integrated MCP into their systems, while development tool companies like Zed and Replit are enhancing their platforms with it. The open-source nature of MCP encourages collaboration and innovation in the AI industry.
