The MOnSter 6502 project aims to create a fully functional replica of the classic MOS 6502 microprocessor found in iconic computer systems such as the Apple ][ and Commodore 64. The replica board is 12×15 inches, with 4769 components including 3218 transistors and 1019 resistors. The project took around 8 years to complete, facing delays due to COVID, but is now headed towards a public launch in mid-2023. The MOnSter runs at a slower speed than the original 6502 chip, but can be used as an emulator in various applications. Despite being a challenging and expensive project, it showcases impressive engineering and dedication.
