MSI has unveiled the world’s first USB-4 expansion card at Computex this week. The add-in card includes two DisplayPort connections and two USB-C outputs with a power delivery of up to 100W. The primary USB-C port allows fast charging, which should suffice for some laptops, tablets and handheld gaming consoles. TechPowerUp reports that both ports can transfer data at a rate of 40Gb/s, which is the standard for USB4 1.0 and Thunderbolt 3. The card uses the same host controller as Thunderbolt cards by ASMedia’s ASM4242. MSI also showcased its other bleeding-edge products at the event, including a mesh router and a new NVMe SSD.
