NASA, Axiom Space Change Assembly Order of Commercial Space Station

Axiom Space, in partnership with NASA, has adjusted its assembly sequence to speed up the process of becoming a free-flying space station. NASA awarded Axiom Space a contract in January 2020 to develop a habitable commercial module attached to the International Space Station, with the goal of transforming it into Axiom Station by 2028. This updated plan will allow for earlier departure from the space station and ensure continued human presence in low Earth orbit after the ISS retires in 2030. NASA is collaborating with various commercial partners to develop new space stations to support future scientific research and exploration goals.
