The theory suggests that spacetime may be classical, not governed by quantum theory, and predicts random fluctuations in spacetime that are larger than anticipated. This theory has implications for the black hole information problem and offers new avenues for experimental testing. The researchers have proposed an experiment to measure the weight of a mass over time to determine if its fluctuations are smaller than required for mathematical consistency. A bet has been made between proponents of different theories to see if the outcome of the experiment or other evidence can confirm the nature of spacetime.
