On David Lynch’s Revenge of the Jedi (2018)

In 1984, the author’s parents took the family to see David Lynch’s Dune, where the complexity of the film’s logic perplexed the audience. Fast forward to 1981, George Lucas considered David Lynch to direct Return of the Jedi, which was initially titled Revenge of the Jedi. Lynch declined the offer to direct Jedi in favor of Dune. Contrasting directors like Richard Donner and John Carpenter were also considered. Lynch’s quirky and humorous recount of visiting Lucas and seeing “Wookies” showcases his unique perspective. Overall, Lynch’s connection to Star Wars provides an interesting glimpse into what could have been.
