One man’s 8-bit quest to finish his teenage Commodore 64 RPG

Mike Brixius is on a quest to finish his Commodore 64 CRPG, Digital Dungeon Master, which he started in 1984. Based on the Avalon Hill tabletop games and Telengard, the game boasted a limited line of sight and open-world inspired by Ultima IV. Brixius has kept all disks, tapes, notes, and hand-documented assembly code printouts since his teenage years and is hand-typing in his old code to finish the game. With no regrets for his pack rat tendencies, Brixius aims to complete the game by 2024 while keeping it in its early-days CRPG roots. Patrons and YouTube followers can offer support and advice in completing the game.
