Luciano Pollastri, a devoted Zwift user, stumbled upon a cheating discrepancy while comparing power recordings on the platform with another cycling app. He found that the power recording on Zwift was significantly higher. This discovery led Pollastri to investigate further and he uncovered a variety of cheating methods being used within the Zwift community. When he reported his findings to the company, they issued a shadowban on him, which sparked backlash from the community. Eventually, the ban was reversed and Pollastri joined IndieVelo, a platform focused on authentic performance in e-racing. Zwift’s lax approach to cheating has led to the defection of some employees and the loss of partnerships and credibility.
