Open-source project ZLUDA lets CUDA apps run on AMD GPUs

Andrzej Janik has released ZLUDA 3, an open-source project allowing GPU-based applications for NVIDIA GPUs to run on other hardware, switching from Intel to AMD GPUs. The wrapper enables apps to run unmodified and has varying success with Blender and photogrammetry apps. Janik’s journey from developing ZLUDA at Intel to open-sourcing updated code for AMD is a fascinating story shared on Phoronix. ZLUDA promises near-native performance for CUDA apps on AMD GPUs but struggles with certain software and OptiX support. Future development depends on community support as Janik considers focusing on NVIDIA technologies. Download ZLUDA 3 from GitHub for Windows and Linux.
