Overture Maps Foundation releases open map dataset

The Overture Maps Foundation has released its first open map dataset, establishing a baseline for four important layers of open map data. The dataset includes newly released open data for nearly 60 million places worldwide and is a collaborative effort by major companies such as Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and TomTom. The four data layers include Places of Interest, Buildings, Transportation Network, and Administrative Boundaries. The Places dataset, in particular, is a major open dataset that has the potential to map everything from new businesses to street markets worldwide. The dataset is available for download and is intended to be a shared asset to support future map applications. Feedback is being solicited from the public for future releases.
