PIXAR, Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, and NVIDIA have come together with the Joint Development Foundation (JDF) to form the Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD). The aim of this alliance is to drive open standards for 3D content and promote the standardization, development, evolution, and growth of Pixar’s Universal Scene Description (USD) technology. OpenUSD, created by Pixar Animation Studios, is a high-performance 3D scene description technology that allows for interoperability across tools, data, and workflows. The alliance will develop specifications for OpenUSD and invite other companies and organizations to participate in shaping its future. The goal is to create a widely adopted international standard for 3D content.
