Quiet – Encrypted P2P team chat with no servers, just Tor

Quiet is an alternative team chat app that distinguishes itself from Slack, Discord, and Element by not requiring a central server or self-hosting. Privacy and security are not guaranteed, and Quiet lacks some basic features. However, it functions surprisingly well as a replacement for Slack. Quiet appeals to those who value software freedom, decentralization, and privacy technology. It uses TypeScript, Electron, and React Native and welcomes outside contributions. Messages sync directly between team devices over Tor, ensuring data privacy. Each community has its own network, and message syncing is facilitated by OrbitDB. Quiet aims to empower users and hold big tech accountable by eliminating the need for servers in software development.
