Riven

Robyn and Rand Miller, brothers and creators of Myst, had humble beginnings in 1993, only to see their game become a massive hit. They chose to fund the sequel, Riven, themselves, delaying its release and refusing to rush the creative process. While Riven was successful, it didn’t quite reach the same level as Myst. The Miller brothers maintained a minimalist approach and chose not to innovate as much as their competitors, surprising many. Their unique vision and dedication to their work set them apart in the gaming industry. Ultimately, Riven’s impact on the adventure genre was limited, but it solidified Cyan’s reputation as a respected game studio.
