Starting September 1, Austin Clements will become the tech lead for the Go team at Google and the overall Go project. After over 12 years of leading the Go project, the current leader believes it’s time for a change and that new leaders can bring fresh perspectives and strengths. Austin and Cherry Mui will be stepping up to lead different areas within the Go project. The transition aims to strengthen the project while ensuring stability. The current leader will still be involved as an individual contributor and will focus on new projects. The goal is for the transition to be seamless, with the focus on improving the Go project overall.
