STM32MP2: ST’s first Linux capable 64-bit MPU with NPU, GPU and TSN

ST has announced the OEM launch of the STM32MP2, their first 64-bit microprocessor. It features a Cortex-A35 that allows for future-proof design, as well as a neural network processing unit (NPU), a new GPU, and new peripherals like three Gigabit Ethernet ports with time-sensitive networking support. The STM32MP2 is designed for long-term use, with a commitment to provide support for at least ten years. The Cortex-A35 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit runtimes, making it a versatile choice. The NPU on the STM32MP2 is capable of reaching up to 1.35 tera operations per second, and the new GPU supports Vulkan for advanced graphics. The STM32MP2 will be compatible with 32-bit applications and DDR3 memory, making it easier for designers to transition to the new generation of devices. Overall, the STM32MP2 aims to provide a clear path for engineers working on industrial applications to plan for the future.
