Successful room temperature ambient-pressure magnetic levitation of LK-99

Haixin Chang submitted a report discussing experimental findings on the atmospheric superconductivity of a modified lead apatite crystal called LK-99. The original researchers, Sukbae Lee et al., claimed that LK-99 materials exhibited the Meissner levitation phenomenon of superconductors and had a superconducting transition temperature (Tc) higher than 400 K. However, Chang and his team successfully synthesized LK-99 crystals that could be magnetically levitated at a larger angle than Lee’s sample at room temperature. This development opens the possibility for the true potential of room temperature, non-contact superconducting magnetic levitation. The report was submitted on August 3, 2023.
