The board of the Service and Communication Workers Union, Seko, has decided to issue a sympathy action to support IF Metall’s conflict with global car manufacturer Tesla. The reason for the conflict is that Tesla and its owner, Elon Musk, refuse to sign a collective agreement and follow the rules of the Swedish labor market. IF Metall’s fight is also our fight. By refusing to comply with the rules in Sweden, Tesla is trying to gain a competitive advantage by offering workers lower wages and conditions than they would have with a collective agreement. This is completely unacceptable. Seko’s sympathy actions include a blockade of deliveries made by PostNord and CityMail to all Tesla workplaces in Sweden. This means that, for example, spare parts and components will not be delivered to the workshops by these logistics companies. The blockade will continue even if another company takes over the blocked work. “We fully support IF Metall in this important conflict. We are in a crucial period for the Swedish trade union movement and the Swedish model. We and our members will do everything we can to emerge victorious in this fight for fair conditions for Tesla employees,” says Ulrika Nilsson, Seko’s collective bargaining secretary. Seko’s actions will come into effect on November
