Kaspersky has reported on its latest cybersecurity discovery – an intricate, professional, targeted cyber attack that uses Apple’s mobile phones. The attack involved placing spyware on iPhones belonging to employees of Kaspersky itself, both the middle and the upper management. Invisible messages containing a malicious attachment exploited various vulnerabilities in the iOS operating system to carry this out. The spyware transmits private data including microphone recordings, geolocation, and photos from instant messengers. While the attack was detected after an anomaly was picked up in their network at the start of the year, the company is still continuing their investigation.
