‘The Manipulaters’ Improve Phishing, Still Fail at Opsec

Approximately nine years ago, KrebsOnSecurity highlighted a cybercrime group called “The Manipulaters” based in Pakistan, who attempted to rebrand themselves as legitimate but failed at hiding their illegal activities. The group is known for selling tools to trick individuals into giving up sensitive information and engaging in phishing activities under the shared identity of “Saim Raza.” Recent research by DomainTools revealed that The Manipulaters have faced malware infections that exposed customer data, raising questions about their operations and the origin of these infections. Despite attempts by The Manipulaters to clean up their act, their questionable practices continue to be exposed.
