The 1801VM2 CPU, developed in 1982, is a Soviet-made processor that is a further development of the earlier 1801VM1. It doubled the original clock speed to 5MHz. It was an independent development from a constructive standpoint. The CPU was manufactured at two factories: Angstrem and Solnechnogorsk Electromechanical Plant. Additional ground contacts were made to increase noise immunity compared to the 1801VM1. The 1801VM2 was the heart of the DVK computer models and was also used in the Romashka word processor and the Electronics IM-05 chess computer. A microcode error was present in the 1801VM2 design but was fixed in the 1806VM2. The 1806VM2 is still being produced today. In 1990, a radiation-hardened microprocessor compatible with the 1806VM2 was introduced.
