The latest version of tinc, 1.1pre18, has been released with a range of updates and new features. Some of these updates include making more variables safe for use in invitations, preventing large amounts of UDP probes from being sent consecutively, and allowing a tun/tap filedescriptor to be passed through a UNIX socket. Additionally, tinc has features such as using tunnelling and encryption to create a secure private network between hosts on the Internet, and as the VPN appears to the IP level network code as a normal network device, there is no need to adapt any existing software.
