Typing fast is about latency, not throughput

There is a misconception that typing speed doesn’t matter as long as it is above 80 words per minute (wpm). However, this is not true. While high throughput is not an issue, latency is. Faster typing allows writers to experiment with different sentence structures and quickly delete or restructure sentences. Similarly, coders can think about code structure and move on to the next task without pausing to type. Writing at a faster speed significantly reduces the time wasted between thoughts and typing, improving overall productivity. Although the difference between 80 wpm and 120 wpm may seem negligible, the constant pause in thoughts can be frustrating and hinder flow.
